Porchlight Music Theatre seeks Marketing Communications Associate (Part-Time to Full-Time)

Join our dynamic growing team as a Marketing Communications Associate, with flexibility in number of hours worked per week (currently 25 hours per week on average) and in potentially growing with the position from part-time to full-time.

Position Overview:

Provide marketing communications and project management support for the production, education and development activities of the theatre. Works closely with the outside Marketing/PR partner, along with internal departments, to develop, coordinate and execute marketing efforts, as well as ensure timely marketing deliverables.

Reports to:

Executive Director with project direction from Marketing/PR firm and Artistic Director

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage timeline of marketing activities for each production or event, ensuring successful meeting of deliverables by stated deadlines, reviewing current status weekly at staff meeting
  • Manage  support materials, services, reporting and scheduling for mainstage productions, Revisits series, and related events (“Behind the Backstory,” talk backs, opening nights, etc.), Off the Porch events/readings, New Faces revues, and other artistic programs
    • Hire and manage outside graphic designers, photographers, videographers, mailing house and other marketing-related vendors
    • Assist in developing and executing new marketing strategies for increasing single ticket sales, subscriptions, and attendance at other events
    • Schedule and oversee pre-production photo shoots including communicating with cast, photographer, costume and wig designers; securing location; assisting AD with art direction
    • Project manage programs for mainstage and Revisits, including assembly of information, management of design process, and coordination with printer
    • Schedule and coordinate cast appearances (TV, Petterino’s, etc.)
    • Provide back-up photography, videotaping, social media, and graphic design as needed
  • Prepare reports based on audience surveys, box office reports, etc. analyzing audience demographics
  • Manage the annual season brochure production including design, printing and mailing
    • Assist in hiring outsource graphic designer
    • Coordinate all materials for graphic designer (photos, logos, copy, etc), writing copy as needed
    • Secure competitively priced printing and mailing house services
    • Coordinate internal and external mailing lists
    • Oversee mailing of brochure and other distribution
  • Manage community engagement and targeted marketing efforts to introduce/reinforce Porchlight and its programs to new and diverse audiences
    • Create annual plan for community engagement based on season artistic selections, educational initiatives and development goals
    • Assist production dramaturgs in the creation and assembly of information
    • Organize post-show discussions and other community engagement opportunities
    • Assemble lists of target organizations for each production
    • Reach out to target groups to offer educational/engagement opportunities and generate group sales
  • Create and assist in managing promotions to support other earned-income business streams including logo merchandise sales, rehearsal room rental, stock/prop/costume rental, and shop rental, and educational offerings

  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and to handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to successfully manage projects and work with others to ensure deadlines are met
  • Team-player with high level of initiative and professionalism
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as performances, events or meetings require
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Benefits/Compensation:

  • Currently part-time, average of 25 hours per week
  • Hourly, overtime non-exempt at $15/hour
