Award-winning Porchlight Music Theatre is proud to announce that Tony Award-nominated Sean Allan Krill and Broadway’s Kathy Voytko will star in Porchlight in Concert: Sunday in the Park with George, Saturday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 12 at 2 p.m., at the Studebaker Theater, 410 S. Michigan Ave. This concert performance includes music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine and is directed by Artistic Director Michael Weber and music directed by David Fiorello.
Porchlight celebrates the 40th Anniversary of one of Stephen Sondheim’s most celebrated works with a new special event concert staging. Audiences will experience Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer-, Tony- and Oliver-winning musical masterpiece with the original Broadway orchestrations performed by musicians live on stage with an all-star cast at Chicago’s historic and beautifully restored Studebaker Theater. Based on Georges Seurat‘s painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,” which is on display just down the street from the Studebaker Theater at the Art Institute of Chicago, this limited engagement brings to life the rich score telling the story of the months leading to the completion of Seurat’s famous work in 1886 and the effects of the artist and the art on people over the following 100 years.

Sean Allan Krill was most recently seen on Broadway as Governor Slaton in the Tony-winning revival of Parade. In 2020, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as “Steve Healy” in Jagged Little Pill. The cast recording of the critically-acclaimed musical received the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Bella Branshaw is overjoyed to be making her professional debut with Porchlight! Her favorite roles include “Phlem” in Giants in the Sky (Interlochen), “Fiona” in Shrek Jr. and “Lily” in Anastasia: Youth Edition (BAMtheatre). In 2023, Bella competed at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta where she played the role of “Mrs. Wormwood” in Matilda Jr. (BAMtheatre) and received the top award of “Outstanding Performance” by a group. Bella went on to be given the “All-Star Performer” award from her group for that performance. Bella returned to the Junior Theatre Festival in February where she debuted a new song from Disney iTheatrics.

Michael Weber is a nationally recognized, award-winning director, producer, actor and educator. He recently directed the Off-Broadway and European premieres of Call Me Elizabeth written by and starring Kayla Boye as Elizabeth Taylor. Under his artistic leadership, Porchlight Music Theatre was awarded Chicago’s Jeff Award for “Best Production” six times for A Class Act, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Sondheim on Sondheim, The Scottsboro Boys, Dreamgirls and Blues in the Night. Porchlight productions that he directed, include Cabaret, Gypsy, End of the Rainbow, Sweeney Todd, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Pal Joey, Assassins and Side Show, as well as Grand Hotel at Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place and She Loves Me at Theatre at the Center were each nominated for the Jeff Award Award for Best Production. He previously served as artistic director for the inaugural season of Chicago’s Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place (now Broadway in Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse) and at Theatre at the Center in Munster, Indiana (1998-2004). David Fiorello is an Equity Jeff Award-winning Music Director, Director, Performer, Orchestrator and Playwright that’s had his work featured across the globe. Most recent credits include serving as Music Director for Blues in the Night (starring Tony-Nominee Felicia P. Fields), Music Directing To Be with Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and served as Director & Music Director for the East Coast and International Premiere of his show With a Song in My Heart: The Romance of Richard Rodgers. He Music Directed Porchlight’s hit production of Gypsy in Chicago, starring 8-time Jeff Award-Winner E. Faye Butler, has toured internationally with John Doyle’s re-imagined Sweeney Todd, and served as Music Director for the Off-Broadway hit Danny & Sylvia: The Danny Kaye Story. His musical The Language or the Kiss, which he conceived, arranged and starred in (featuring the music of The Indigo Girls) received several Off-Broadway industry readings. He has taught and Music Directed at the University level, including appointments at Northwestern University, Shenandoah University, Bucknell University, North Central College, Dominican University, and most recently Columbia College of Chicago & Loyola University Chicago, where he serves as adjunct faculty. In Chicago, David has most recently served as Music Director for productions of Woman of the Year, Do Re Mi, The Apple Tree (Porchlight Music Theatre), Sunday in the Park With George, A Man of No Importance (Columbia College Chicago), The Addams Family, Renascence (North Central College) and Eleanor’s Very Merry Christmas Wish at The Greenhouse Theatre, for which he additionally provided arrangements. He’s served as Music Director/Arranger/Orchestrator for 3 seasons of Porchlight’s New Faces Sing Broadway series, as well as Chicago Sings: Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Chicago Sings: 25 Years of Porchlight, Chicago Sings Sondheim and Chicago Sings Broadway Pop 1 & 2. Internationally, he’s worked to help create the Musical Theatre Program as part of the International Lyric Academy in Vicenza, Italy, where he now serves as head of the program. David is the Founder & Artistic Director of The Beautiful City Project, a theatre organization that uses the tool of musical theatre to raise funds and awareness for hyper-local Chicago charities and non-profits, using some of the finest talent in the city.
