Off the Porch

The New Musical Works Program of Porchlight Music Theatre

Created and led by Porchlight Music Theatre Artistic Associates, Off the Porch follows the great tradition of Chicago theatre by offering an open and safe environment for the exploration and creation of new musicals, adaptations, and plays with music. Through this series, Porchlight nurtures local, regional and national talent by providing artistic resources to support the development of new musical works and by cultivating and showcasing the new work of composers, lyricists and playwrights.

Play Submission

Porchlight Music Theatre accepts full length script submissions year-round from literary agents and theatre professionals with whom we have an existing professional relationship. We invite unrepresented writers to submit a brief bio and short synopsis, with ten pages of sample dialogue and music on CD or sent electronically.

Unsolicited submissions that do not meet these criteria are not read and are either returned (if accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope) or recycled (if no SASE provided).
