Specifically designed for the actor who is looking for personal attention to review, update and improve your musical audition materials and presentation, this course will focus on helping you identify your own product and then freshen up your audition book with material that’s not overdone and is targeted to sell you. You might find the perfect comedy or uptempo song, discover a monster 32 bar cut you never tried and then leave the class with some marked, pointed options to showcase the best of YOU.
Individual audit spots are also available. Auditors observe the class, but do not sing or have coachings with Beckie. Individual audit spots are $20 per class. If you would like to audit, enter "Audit - # class(es)" on the second page of the registration form.
Classes take place at the Porchlight Rehearsal Studio, 4200 W Diversey Ave. (Just west of Pulaski) Parking available on the street or in the adjacent lot. #76 bus pulls up right in front!

Recently nominated by Broadway World Chicago for Excellence in Musical Direction for her work on Porchlight Music Theater’s A Class Act, Beckie is a coach for musical performers all over Chicago, and teaches master classes at colleges throughout the Chicago area and the nation.
An award winning concert artist, Beckie has appeared at some of the nation’s top nightclubs and concert venues including the legendary Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Birdland in New York, Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre and Park West, as well as at concert halls and art series across the country.
Hailed by Chicago’s WGN Radio as “one of the city’s finest cabaret performers,” Beckie is a three time winner of Chicago’s After Dark Award for Outstanding Cabaret Artist. A staple of the Windy City music scene, Beckie has performed regularly at Davenports, Maxim’s, Gentry On State, and the city of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs musical events, where she frequently serves as musical director. Currently she co-hosts an open-mic at Petterinos with Denise McGowan Tracy called MondayNight Live, as well as one at Davenports.
As one of cabaret’s most in demand entertainers, Beckie was featured in Michael Feinstein’s “Now & Then” Series for her Carnegie Hall debut. She has been a featured performer at many of the Mabel Mercer Cabaret Conventions in New York, The Hamptons and in Chicago, as well as many performances for the Chicago Humanities Festival, where she has served as a performer, director and musical director.
Beckie has two acclaimed solo CD’s, Real Emotional Girl and Heart & Soul, that have received national airplay. Both are an eclectic mix of classic ballads, standard jazz favorites as well as her own original songs. Beckie is also an award-winning songwriter. Cabaret Scenes Magazine called Real Emotional Girl “one of the year’s finest recordings.”
She performs regularly with Tom Michael, and as a duo they are recipients of the After Dark Award for Outstanding Cabaret Artist. Their award-winning duo CD Better Two-gether showcases their unique “2 Singers – 1 Voice” duo style that has made them what the Chicago Tribune calls “ one of the most compelling duos in cabaret. “ Their acclaimed shows have consistently been named among the year’s best by After Dark Chicago and New York’s Cabaret Scenes Magazine.
