Porchlight Music Theatre seeks motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as the company continues to grow and expand in our 24th season. We are specifically looking for new members of our Front of House team that will be trained in the areas of House Management, Box Office, and Concessions. These part-time hourly, seasonal positions begin at the end of September and end in mid-June. Front of House staff will work daytime weekly hours in the office, with evening and weekend availability required during productions. This position reports to the Audience Services Manager.


Responsibilities:

House Management/Assistant House Management

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to people of all ages and abilities
  • Train, supervise, and assist volunteer ushers from The Saints Program
  • Set up ticket scanners, signage, and other house materials
  • Work collaboratively with Stage Manager and Audience Services Manager to coordinate front and back of house operations, including during production load-in and strike
  • Assist with load-in, load-out, and overall maintenance of the space during production, in collaboration with Audience Services Manager
  • Oversee accessible seating
  • Complete post-program reporting and evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned

 Box Office

  • Process ticket orders by taking phone calls and assisting walk-up patrons, both with single-ticket and subscription orders
  • Processing cash and credit card transactions
  • Carefully maintaining all customer records in Porchlight’s ticketing software, Patron Manager
  • Provide excellent customer service over the phone and in person
  • Fulfill requests for accessible accommodations
  • Expand our subscription program by informing patrons about different packages, programming options, and the benefits of subscribing, as well as expanding and upselling other series to existing subscribers and single ticket buyers
  • Cash reconciliation from in-person sales
  • Complete post-program reporting and evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned

Concessions

  • Set up and tear down of concessions pre- and post-performance, including lobby furniture, food items, drinks, and other necessary equipment
  • Cash reconciliation from daily sales
  • Interact with patrons and talk to them about Porchlight, our programming, and our productions in a way that is engaging and will entice them to continue to attend future Porchlight productions
  • Keep stock of supplies and notify the Audience Services Manager if an order should be placed
  • Complete post-production reporting and evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service experience, computer proficiency, and general office skills are required
  • Previous experience working in a theatre is a plus
  • Ticketing system and/or Patron Manager experience is a plus
  • Punctuality and professionalism is a must
  • Must be able to consistently work 15-20 hours a week
  • Must have availability for evenings and weekends during production times
  • Must have a positive, respectful, and patient approach
  • Experience delivering and receiving feedback
  • Excellent phone skills with a friendly and supportive personality (both on the phone and off)
  • Endless optimism and a love of the arts, especially musicals
  • Strong sense of ethics and doing what’s right for the patron
